The joys of having school age children when they come home with all those diseases and to round it all off Nits as well :)

On Sunday, Anna (Megan’s mum) thought she has chicken pox which posed a wee problem as I have never had them and of course neither had Charlie. So off to the Dr’s she went on Monday, who was 80% sure they weren’t but could not be sure – wait and see is what he advised. It would appear they are not chicken pox but some sort of rash – phew.

Megan was scratching at her head yesterday and when we saw Anna she did say she’s had nits the night before but thought the special shampoo had worked. She has stopped scratching today, Ian will be thankful as its his job to do the nit treatment. Sigh, it brings me back to when I was at school and having to clean my brothers heads!

Wait long enough for one and two come along at the same time!

After two months of being an unemployed bum, I now have two job offers on the table in 24 hours.  Both are really good opportunities so I’m going to take the weekend to decide which one I’m going to take.

Hi all, I’ve been reading on stuff.co.nz about the horrible weather heading your way – so baton down the hatches and please take care. Marc, I would be surprised by the sounds of things if the Masters played footy tomorrow :(

We have had some rather average weather up until the last couple of days where is has now got very hot, up around 26-27 degrees. Nice :)

I’ve been rather ill the last three days with a tummy bug and the only upside to it has been the 3kgs I managed to loose through throwing up! Today I feel much better and Ian cooked me a bacon and egg bap, yum yum, however the nicest part of it was being able to go outside to enjoy breakfast in the sun at 10am.

We are off to Cardiff tomorrow to the Big Cheese festival with Ian’s bro and dad and respective families.

GO BLACK!

Charlie had her first UK jabs on Monday so needless to say the sleeping through the night didn’t last long :(

However, at her ‘assessment’ by the Heath Visitor we discovered our little girl has had quite a growth spurt and has shot up 5cm in 2 months and is now 77cm in length!  Holy smoke, bat man :)   And she weights in at a healthy 10 kg, only  1kg more then she did at 8 months.  Bloodly hell she’ll be tapping me on the head by the time she’s five if she keeps this up.

I am sure those of you with children will have a similar tale to tell .. yesterday Charlie was sitting on my lap when I felt a little ‘rumble in the jungle’ action in her nappy. So I gave it 5 minutes and took her upstairs to change her …. I had the dirty nappy off and was just turning to get a wipe when I turned back to see her lift her legs up and this stream of liquid poo came straight towards me – ekk! Thank goodness for my lightening reflexes as i jumped out of the way or it would have hit me square in the chest – needless to say the floor and wall were not so fortunate :)

It all happened so quickly that all I could really do was call out to Ian to grab some handy towels and laugh :)

Well the little girl had four new firsts in her life over the weekend.

1. Ian and I took Megan and Charlie swimming on Saturday afternoon. It was the first time Charlie had been in a pool, at first she had a ‘death grip’ on me and had a constant worried look on her face. However after a little while she relaxed and started to enjoy herself. I think the fact I found a yellow rubber ducky for her to play with helped her with this process. Ian did at one point almost drown her and as she started swallowing a lot of water, he gave her back to me! She made friends with the life guard who kept smiling and waving at her as we would swim by. First swimming experience was a success and she looked so cute in her little pink frilly bathing suit :) I promise to get photos next time.

2. Charlie turned 10 months old last Friday and it was her first night were she slept through the night – horraay. She then did it again on Saturday and Sunday so I am crossing my fingers this continues :)

3. While banging on her highchair on Saturday morning and getting frustrated with me as I was ‘obviously’ taking to long with her toast – she yelled out ‘MUM MUM MUM’ with another bang on her tray table :) That was the first time she had ever said that in my company – so ‘Da Da Da’ is out and its all about ‘Mum Mum Mum’.

4. She now knows when Daddy says ‘No’ he means it. As she was rolling around the floor she reached out to touch something she is not allowed to when I said ‘No’ and she ignored me (not boding well for later on..) when Ian turned to her and said ‘No’ and as she looked at her Dad her bottom lip quivered and she looked like she was going to cry! So like a big tough Daddy, Ian quickly picked her up to give her a cuddle – big softy!

As we were all up bright and early this morning, Megan and I decided to take the dogs on a nice long walk.  As you’ll see from one of the photo’s Megan and I are going to see who grows fasterer this summer the field of wheat or Megan.

Megan chose the follow photo’s from the 50 I took as she thinks that our friends in NZ would like to see them.

Well this is my first blog post, no doubt one of many to come in my attempts to keep you all updated on our ‘going-on’s :)

We are in the final stages of getting the house unpacked and Ian reckons with one last push we should get most of it done – sigh. I’m trying to summon up the strength and energy to complete the task as we have had to open everyone of our 198 items while we checked if we needed it or not and then repacked each box – ugh.

Ian has been very good at doing what men do which is of course ‘lifting heavy things’ and even has a bruise or two so show for his efforts :+)
