Last weekend we took Charlie and Jonny swimming, it was Jonny’s first time in the pool and Charlie hadn’t been swimming since Dec 08.  Jonny looked so cute in his new blue swimming trunks which are sized 3-12 months .. hmm I think we may get a month out of them.  I described him as looking like a Shar Pei puppy (the ones with lots of rolls ) as thats what he looked like, if you held him out the rolls disappeared :)

Charlie had on her arms bands for the first time and after spending the first 10 mins trying to get them off, she then learned they had a purpose and quite enjoyed having them on :)   She was really good with her kicking and trying to float.  As normal Ian dunked both the kids and I think Charlie did swallow half the pool at one stage, but they both survived and didn’t look to traumatised by it all.

So I think we may make this a regular family outing.

My poor little curly girly got her first wasp sting on Tuesday at nursery and I think it was just as distressing for me as for her (as I’m not used to seeing her cry as its something she very very rarely does) and my poor girl was balling!  Needless to say she recovered pretty quickly and at least now I know she isn’t allergic to wasps :)

She is now at the age where she is copying things that people do and she now interacts with the TV!  So if there is a children’s TV programme on which has music and actions, she now tries to copy the moves – its so cute to watch :)

I measured her yesterday and she is now 91 cms tall which is not good news for her size 2 trousers as they only go up to 92cm and shes not yet 2!  So bring on size 3 clothes for my little girl.

We also had a lovely visit from Janet (Aunty Vic’s Mum) and her brother David yesterday.  Janet is over visiting family and it was really good of her to make the time to come and visit us to see Charlie and meet Jonny.  Again, it was a nice touch of NZ to see a familiar face.

I realised I didn’t have any pictures of Jonny and I so used PhotoBooth on the Mac to take these :)

We have had a few visitors lately.  We were lucky enough to have Aunty Stacey here for 3 days before she and Uncle Gary departed on their 2 weeks cruise :)   Gary and Ian made the standard compulsory visit to our ‘local’ and returned a few hours later to tell us they were heading ‘out’ with a bunch of the ‘local’s to some disco!  Stace and I were quite happy for them go – they rolled in around 2.30!

Here are a couple of pics of Jonny with his Aunty Stacey.

We then had Aunty Sarah come over from Paris for the weekend, again lovely to catch up and see her :)

We then had Aunty Emms and Uncle Jonny for a quick visit.  Here’s a couple of pics of Emms with Jonny :)

Charlie really enjoys drawing – particularly on herself!

Charlies first scraped knee from day care.  She found this very fascinating and over the coming week would often pull up her pants and point to it :)

Jonny’s first attempt at eating solids at 4.5 months old.  He now eats at least 2 ice cubes of ‘orange’ (pumpkin, sweet pototoe or carrot) twice a day and for pudding either has mashed up banana or a baby yogurt.  Feeding time doesn’t take long as he whoofs it down .. probably why he is the size he is!

Charlie eating her vegies etc

Thanks to Marc’s advice, Ian updated our software and our blog is back working again!

So here’s a few videos and pic’s of the last month or so.

Last week was a bit of a whirl wind with lots of people coming and going.

Jonny and Emms came and stayed last Tuesday night which was great and after some arm twisting (yeah right) Ian took Jonny up to the local for a few pints and to be introduced to all the ‘locals’ up there.  Needless to say they came back quite ‘happy and cheerful’ after spending 4 hours doing what boys do best!  It was fab as that left Emms and I time to do the girly catch up and have the odd glass of cider and play with the kids :)   Sadly they left the next day to head back to spend their last two days with Jonny’s mum and family.

Wednesday saw the arrival of Tanya (Ms T) and her friend Ayse from Brissie for the Global Gathering music festival which started on Friday.  This event is one of the largest dance parties with live bands and DJ’s held in the UK, an event Ian was guttered he couldn’t attend last year.

http://www.globalgathering.co.uk/

So we had Ms T, Ayse, then Gordon (Ian’s bro) arrived on Friday (unfortunately, Sam couldn’t come as she had suspected swine flu!) and then another Simon from Aussie also stayed and then our ‘local’ Simon also attended – phew!  In between all of that, I managed to hurt my sciatica nerve (couldn’t walk, had lots of different drugs, a back brace, two walking sticks and urgent visits to the physio) on Thursday and so it almost looked like Ian wasn’t likely to attend this years festival!  However, I soldiered through (I know, what a martyr!) and got through the weekend with lots of help from our guests who pitched in with the kids and all the other house duties etc.

Although busy and frantic, it was great to see everyone and now the house seems stranglely quiet :)

Again there are lots of pic’s and will post them when I can.

Like Charlie, who was Charlie ‘bum posie pants’ Barrs – Jonny is mummy’s little ‘booby doo’ probably as he seems to be permanently attached to one!

The little man is 5 months old and is growing very quickly.  He has now doubled his weight and weighs in at a good healthy 8.5kgs and is now 70cm long.  He was sleeping through the night until I took him to the nasty nurse who jabbed him with 3 needles and since then he is back to waking once in the night – normally around 4am and Charlie wakes at 5ish!

He responds really well to sounds and is the chattiest little man to the point where we mute the TV as we can’t hear it over his conversation :)   He really likes bright colours and must have teeth on the move as he is chomping on anything he can get his mitts on.

He can almost roll over and is just working out how to roll over his shoulder.  His neck is getting quite strong, which is important has he has a rather large head and I’m sure he’ll make a very good ‘front rower’ when he gets older.

Charlie has taken to trying to cuddle him and this week she was trying to do ’round round the garden .. ‘ on his hand.  So cute :)   We have just put him in the Jolly Jumper and after some nervous moments he seemed to get the idea, until Charlie decided he would make a great human sling shot!

Charlie is progressing well at day care and has become quite a cuddly child lately and continues to be extremely active (or as I say, she runs around like a nutter!)  Her favourite word is ‘NO’ and simply nods her head for ‘Yes’ and is sort of saying ‘thank you’.  Her latest game is to put all the cushions on the floor and then dive head first on to them.  A couple of times she has managed to do this and forgot to put the cushions down first .. we had some tears!  Megan watched a movie on the computer with headphones the other day and so now, Charlie likes to sit on the poof, with the head phones on (but not plugged in) and watch her goofy movie .. it is very funny to watch.  She gets very upset if you touch her headphones.  She can also now do a forward roll which started with her standing on her head and one day she just rolled over – clever girl.

Megs lost or I should say, it fell out after lots of wiggling, one of her top front teeth.  So she is now sporting that great 6 year old gappy smile :)   She was very happy as the going rate from the tooth fairy is £1.00!  Its gone up from the 20cents it was when I was a kid!

Sorry still no pics yet, but will load them up once I can.
